Solving Basement Water Intrusion in Wilmington, DE
Challenge
A homeowner in Wilmington, DE, reached out to us with a common but frustrating issue: frequent water intrusion in their unfinished basement. After each heavy storm, the homeowner noticed that water would leak into the basement, soaking the floors and dampening the walls. Over time, this issue began to cause significant concern for the homeowner. Not only was the basement space unusable due to the moisture, but the water damage also posed a risk to the foundation and overall structural integrity of the home.
This ongoing problem was something the homeowner knew they couldn’t ignore any longer. With each storm, the water leaks worsened, and the damage became more extensive. The homeowner was looking for a permanent solution that would not only stop the leaks but also prevent the high humidity levels from creating additional issues, like mold and mildew growth.
Solution
To address the homeowner's concerns, we first conducted a thorough home inspection to assess the extent of the water intrusion and identify the underlying cause. Our System Design Specialist, Gary visited the property and meticulously examined the basement’s structure, identifying areas where water was entering and determining the best course of action for long-term protection.
The solution we recommended included the installation of three key systems, each chosen to address a specific aspect of the problem:
-
WaterGuard Drainage System
We installed the WaterGuard along the perimeter of the basement. This advanced drainage system is designed to capture water that enters from the walls and direct it into a drainage channel. The WaterGuard system is highly effective at preventing water from pooling on the floor, ensuring that the basement remains dry and safe. -
TripleSafe Sump Pump
To handle the volume of water entering the basement, we installed the TripleSafe Sump Pump system. This high-performance pump features three individual pumps, including a backup pump, to ensure continuous water evacuation. Even in the most extreme storm conditions, the TripleSafe system provides reliable protection, keeping the basement dry no matter the amount of rain or flooding. -
SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier
To combat the high humidity levels that often accompany water intrusion, we installed the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. This powerful unit is capable of removing large amounts of moisture from the air, preventing the buildup of mold, mildew, and other moisture-related issues. With this system in place, the homeowner no longer had to worry about the basement becoming a breeding ground for harmful fungi or allergens.
Our production team, led by our experienced foreman, Jeremy, worked efficiently and carefully to install each component. We began by laying down the WaterGuard system along the basement’s perimeter. Next, we positioned the TripleSafe Sump Pump in the lowest part of the basement, ensuring optimal drainage. Finally, the SaniDry Sedona was installed to keep the air in the basement dry and comfortable.
Throughout the installation, we maintained a high level of cleanliness, taking care to clean up after each step to minimize disruption to the homeowner’s living space. Once the work was complete, the basement was transformed into a dry, safe, and healthy environment.
