Basement Waterproofing and Window Replacement in Wilmington, DE
Challenge
A homeowner in Wilmington, DE, recognized potential risks in his basement before any serious water issues could arise. Although the basement had not yet experienced water intrusion, the signs were clear: the parging on the walls and windows dating back to the 1960s were showing their age. With the basement showing clear signs of vulnerability, the homeowner decided to act proactively by reinforcing the space to prevent future water damage and create a dry, durable environment for the years ahead.
The homeowner needed to address two primary concerns:
-
Aging and deteriorating basement barriers – The parging on the basement walls and outdated windows presented possible entry points for water, making the basement prone to potential water intrusion in the future.
-
Outdated windows – The old basement windows not only lacked insulation and security but were prone to rust and rot, causing energy inefficiency and potential safety concerns.
The solution needed to address both the potential for water damage and the need for a more modern, efficient, and secure basement environment.
Solution
Our dedicated Customer Care team coordinated with the homeowner to schedule a detailed home inspection. During the inspection, Chris, a System Design Specialist from our Sales team, evaluated the situation in detail. After identifying the deteriorating parging and outdated windows as potential threats for future water intrusion, Chris recommended a comprehensive set of solutions.
WaterGuard System Installation:
- To address the risk of water intrusion, Chris proposed installing our WaterGuard system. This advanced French drain solution is designed to channel water away from the foundation and prevent it from entering the basement. The WaterGuard system, installed along the perimeter of the basement, works effectively to collect water from the walls, guiding it towards a sump pump for removal.
TripleSafe Sump Pump System:
- To ensure any water that might find its way into the basement is quickly and efficiently removed, we recommended the installation of our TripleSafe Sump Pump System. This reliable, multi-pump system provides triple protection against water accumulation by using three pumps: the primary pump, a secondary pump for backup, and a third pump in case of an emergency. This robust system ensures that any water entering the basement is swiftly removed, keeping the space dry and safe.
CleanSpace Liner Installation:
- To provide an additional layer of protection, we installed the CleanSpace liner on the basement walls. This vapor barrier seals the walls to prevent moisture infiltration, while also improving the overall insulation of the space. The CleanSpace liner is durable, waterproof, and will prevent mold growth, helping maintain a dry and healthy basement environment.
EverLast Window Replacement:
- Recognizing the outdated and inefficient windows, we recommended replacing them with our high-quality EverLast Replacement Basement Windows. These windows are built with reinforced vinyl frames that won't rust or rot, offering a maintenance-free solution to prevent drafts and energy loss. The double-pane glass ensures better insulation, reducing heat loss and improving energy efficiency.
