Photo Album: Damp & Uninsulated Crawlspace in Exton, PA
This crawlspace in Exton, PA had no insulation and was also damp. In order for us to make the home warmer, we first had to install our CleanSpace vapor barrier over the floor to prevent the moisture that was evaporating through the floor, from entering the crawlspace. It Is no use trying to insulate when you have high levels of humidity, since humidity will make it feel colder in the winter and warmer in the summer.
Next, we insulated the rim joist area between the joist with spray foam. This area is usually the most vulnerable to cold temperatures and must be insulated the right way. Spray foam is the best product for this difficult to reach and tight area because it seals properly. The last step is to insulate the cold walls with SilverGlo insulation board.
This crawlspace is transformed and looks great, but more importantly, it is much warmer. And a warmer crawlspace means a warmer house.
