Photo Album: Insulated Basement Flooring installed in Forest Hill, MD
Basements often feel very cold even though they are underground and not usually exposed to temperatures below 55 degrees. There is a good reason for this. While everyone insulates the walls of a basement, very few think about the floor. But it is the floor that is in direct contact with your feet, and really needs to be insulated.
In this home, we installed ThermalDry Decking first, which insulates the floor before the finished flooring is installed. Then we covered it with ProComfort Carpet Tiles. Unlike wall to wall carpet, if your carpet gets stained or damaged, only the affected tiles need to be replaced. But the best feature of all - ProComfort Carpet Tiles have no organic material for mold to grow on, which makes it a great option for your basement.
The result is that the customer not only has beautiful carpet in their basement, they also have a much warmer floor. And a warmer floor means a warmer basement.
