Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Fieldstone Home Waterproofed in Gap, PA with WaterGuard & SaniDry
Fieldstone foundations often leak badly because water penetrates the walls in between the stones. The best way to stop that is to excavate and re-seal the foundation walls. But this is not always possible due to obstacles and additions. It is also very expensive and extremely disruptive to the garden.
In this home, exterior waterproofing was not possible. So we installed the WaterGuard drainage system around the perimeter of the basement and connected it to a SuperSump system. Then we covered the walls with our CleanSpace vapor barrier. Any seepage from the wall will seep behind the barrier into the WaterGuard. The problem is resolved for a fraction of the cost compared to exterior waterproofing, and the yard is not destroyed.
We also installed a SaniDry super dehumidifier which guarantees that the basement will never feel damp. This is something that most basements need, especially if you plan on finishing. The standard store bought units readily available are not powerful enough to do the job. The SaniDry is 7-9 times more powerful than a regular dehumidifier.
