Basement Waterproofing Photo Album: Crawlspace Rescue in Plymouth Meeting, PA

This unsightly dirt floor crawlspace was dire need of clean-up, waterproofing and foundation support. The homeowner said they had issues with water intrusion after heavy storms, so for this we installed a SmartPipe and SmartSump system with a liner, cast iron pump and an airtight lid with a WaterWatch alarm. We also installed an Ultrasump battery back-up pump system for added protection in case of power outages. Next we covered the entire crawlspace with our CleanSpace liner and drainage matting and we installed a SaniDry Sedona to keep the humidity under control. Lastly for the foundation support, we installed a steel SmartJack pier and a supplemental beam.

Crawlspace before encapsulation

It's recommended that crawl spaces be sealed or "encapsulated" to prevent problems caused by crawl space moisture. The encapsulation process involves completely isolating the crawl space interior from damp exterior conditions.

Old foundation support posts

Masonry piers sometimes sink, while wood support posts can rot or shift. When piers fail in these ways the support beam will sag or settle, causing floor joists to do the same.
