Challenge

This homeowner contacted Basement Systems USA due to concerns about her block foundation. She had noted that two walls were beginning to bow, and there was a significant horizontal crack along one of the basement walls. Another company had suggested our services to her!

Upon inspection by one of our specialists, it was confirmed that two walls of the homeowner's home were indeed bowing. The primary challenges identified were:

Bowing Walls: Two walls of the homeowner's basement were showing signs of bowing, which indicated structural instability. This not only compromised the structural integrity of her home but also posed a potential safety risk.

Solution

To address the homeowner's concerns effectively, Basement Systems USA recommended a comprehensive solution involving the installation of our GeoLock Wall Anchors and GeoLock Channel Anchors. This solution was chosen for its ability to provide a stable and durable support system for the bowing walls. Here’s how the solution was implemented:

GeoLock Wall Anchors: These anchors were strategically placed along the bowing walls of Ms. Smith's basement. The anchors extend from the inside foundation walls to the stable, compact soil outside. This installation creates a counterforce against the inward movement of the walls, gradually straightening them over time.
